From 2013 to 2016, The Indiana Rural Health Information Technology Education Network (IRHITEN) was a network formed between HealthLINC, Indiana Rural Health, and Ivy Tech with the mission to develop and maintain rural-focused education and training in health information technology. HealthLINC was proud to contribute to the IRHITEN Network by providing an Apprenticeship Program for rural hospitals and practices in Indiana. This 4-8 week post-education experience allowed students to apply their learning in selected rural healthcare environments. Additionally, each apprentice completed a project related to Meaningful Use.
HealthLINC relished the onsite collaboration with students, yielding a more electronically and technically fluent healthcare staff, as well as improved quality, safety, and cost in rural healthcare settings.
